Bonfire bliss balls

Simple? Yes, Delicious? OMFG, absolutely, ridiculously, delicious; despite being raw, refined sugar free and stupidly easy to make.

These little bliss balls hide an explosion of fiery, autumn flavour. You’ll be warmed by ginger, cinnamon and turmeric plus a little pinch of black pepper (to activate the turmeric) gives a spark to each bite. The addition of dried pineapple provides natural sweetness to balance the heat of the earthy spices, this fruit and spice combo is like eating Jamaican ginger cake batter!

These are the ultimate snack to make for Guy Fawkes night. You’ll be grateful to have a stash of these in your pocket to combat the damp, autumn chills as you await the Fireworks. Full of healing spices; turmeric an anti inflammatory, cinnamon to soothe sore throats and ginger to aid digestion these little bombes are the perfect snack that will nourish and warm the soul of any numb and cold Firework sightseers.

(This recipe make about 20, mini 10g balls)

INGREDIENTS:

  • 120g raisins
  • 30g dried pineapple
  • tbsp./30g nut butter (I used almond but cashew, pecan, peanut all work well)
  • 40g oats
  • tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • pinch black pepper

METHOD:

1. Add all the ingredients to a food processor and blitz until sticky clumps begin to form. Then roll the mixture into balls, I like to make mini’s weighing about 10g each.

If you have the will power not to gobble the whole batch, store them in an airtight container in the fridge where they can keep for up to a month.

TIP: Most UK supermarkets will sell dried or freeze dried pineapple in the dried fruit and baking section if not, look out for mini snack packets in the food to go sections.
